How to Read Your Fuel Tank Gauge
- Visit your fuel tank. Most oil tanks are inside, while most propane tanks are outside.
- For propane tanks, lift the lid on your tank and view the percentage available. Typically, you want to reorder when you get to 20%.
- For fuel oil tanks, check the site glass on top of the tank. It will read like the gauge in your car: F, ¾, ½, and E. You typically want to reorder before you reach ¼ full.
